Hey!
I would like some advice on how to make this build under $700, but still be as sufficient to my workload as possible.

5600(x) + 3080 + 32gb 3200c16

doubled rams

upgraded storage

upgraded gpu

upgraded psu

cut cost on cpu + board with similar performance

board now has onboard wifi

this is a mix of used and new parts so quite unsurprising that you can fit a 3080 whilst still staying underbudget, all new at this budget and youd be stuck with a shitty 6650xt whilst probably overrunning the budget slightly

used 5600(x) can be found for ~80$

used 3080 can be found for ~350$

also used case cause 60$ on a hunk of metal at this budget is pretty wasteful

keep in mind that this is the used market so you can haggle stuff down and you may find good deals so you might even end up with an even cheaper build

theres also an optional cost cut which is used rm850x or equivalent psus which should be available for ~50$ and drops price down even further maybe even allowing for a 3080ti if you find one of those cheap enough, these have basically no risk as ive found out for myself buying tons of shitty grey box oems and 3 actually decent albiet old (nearing 10 years, ones already 13yo) psus so up to you if you wanna spend the effort/time to go and pick one up, yes also haggleable cause used market

This, to me, makes more sense for this type of build. The difference between DDR4 and DDR5 speeds isn't that prominent at this budget range, and an increase in actual memory will help a lot more with multitasking and gaming than an increase in MHz. Choosing DDR4 also decreases both the cost of your mobo and your RAM at the same time, freeing up more budget for your video card.

This is a really good value for a used card, but if you're not comfortable using a used card, something like a new 3060-3060 ti (maybe even 4060 ti if you look good enough) or 7700xt would fit within that 350$ range. Also, I feel like getting a 3080 in general may be a bit overkill for your CPU, causing a bottleneck, and unnecessary spending.

My recommendation is that used parts are great value, but the most expensive part of your PC should be, in my opinion, should be new.

6800 can be found for 360$ ish new with 16gb of vram and should slightly outperform the 7700xt, also completely valid choice especially if you cant get a 3080/6800xt <350$ used

as for overkill that can be fixed by cranking the graphics settings, in cpu intensive games there wont be a diff between a 6800 or 3080 anyways as youll be cpu limited

oh and anything below a 4070 is trash  if you are buying new nvidia, 3060(ti) and 4060(ti) are ridicolously overpriced compared to amds new offerings

this only applies till a certain point, youll get exponentially worse parts the lower the budget when buying all new particularly in the <800$ range, all new is still acceptable even in the 800-1000$ range but go below that and you are looking at trash like the 6650xt compared to a 3080/6800xt or having to cut on rams/storage even psu
