Hello LTT .

I am having some audio issues with my sisters laptop .Its an HP 625 .

So the story goes like this. She pluged in a some headphone and after she unpluged them there was no audio .

The sound bar is moving when i play music , and i get audio if i plug in some headphones .

I tried to fix it by unistalling the drivers and reinstalling them . Then i tried format (it was needed anyway ) So i did KillDisk 1 pass Zeros  and then reinstalled windows 7 ulti x64 (she had that to begin with) .

Note: When i finised with the kill disk, i got a command line so i even tried Ctrl+G to check if i get a beep , and i did . But i am not sure if the beep came from the speakers or not .

After the format i installed the drivers and all but still no sound .

So what i am afraid is that the jack is probably jammed somehow but i cant find a way to see if it thinks that there are headphones pluged or not .

So what i probably need is somehow to unjam it or maybe to test the Speaker without going into windows (maybe a bootable audio check ? or something ) or maybe make the pc reject anything that is pluged in the jacks .

Thanks for your time

Go into your audio device driver and if it has such a setting, reassign the jack in question to microphone.

Unfortunatly there is no such option . BUT i did find out evidence that the pin is at fault .

as you can see the left jack (HP) is "bigger" than the one labeled mic . That is because its "pluged" in .

Update : Ok so i fixed it .I found i had some presition needle thing ...

something like this needelprobset.jpg

So i jammed the straight one and started moving it like a gorilla while looking at the screen above until it disconnected .

Well it worked , then  i put some headphone in to see if it was fixed for good , but it broke again .

So i re-fixed it and now i am going to close the plug for good . If my sister wants Headphone she can get usb headphones or something .

Well thanks anyone who took their time read this .
