I recently bought an older model of the Dell XP 15 L521X from Costco. I jumped on the deal because for $680, I could get an i5 3340M, GT630, 6 GBs of RAM, and some sexy build quality. Yeah, the 630, I don't plan to really game on this thing.

But the issue that it seems like the rest of the internet is having is the wifi. This thing is struggling. Seriously. It breaks the computer. I can right click the wifi icon in the task/status tray to Windows diagnose the wifi problems, which usually works for about 1-5 minutes, but then it just loses signal again. And once again, it makes me sad. This laptop looked so beautiful on the side of build quality compared to the other plastic laptops I saw at Costco that day, and it's missing an essential feature.

Keep in mind this is my second day using this laptop and I have 90 days to return it. Does anyone have any suggestions to fix the wifi issue?

it's just a wifi adapter, it's like an external wifi card, that works through usb

your laptop's integrated wifi card seems to be bad, so a workaround would be to use another one

the downside of it is that you would need to have that thing plugged into your usb port all the time

edit: if you can bring it back to the store and have a substitute, it may be worth a try

even of the same model, maybe they just produce those laptops somehow bad so a lot of units suffer of this wifi problem, but not all of them
