Best way to install "Other devices" motherboard drivers

RomHeu

Hi!

I'm currently installing a fresh Windows 11 install on a computer with an ASRock X299 Creator motherboard.

In Device manager, there are more than 50 devices with missing drivers in the "Other devices" section.

The Vendor and Device IDs all point to Intel or motherboard related devices.

The problem is that drivers on ASRock's website are 5 years old (2019) and meant for Windows 10.

But if I remember correctly, the last time I tried to download them directly from Intel's website, some drivers were installing (Intel installer was finishing) but not actually working ("Other devices" remained), and at the end I had at least some devices lacking drivers.

What's the best way to install those drivers? Thank you in advance! 😉

Do you have windows update enabled? I'm kind of surprised Windows wouldn't be able to pull some drivers on its own for a board that age.

Download and install every applicable driver (and not the garbage "utilities" or other programs) that is listed on that site, using the versions for Windows 11 if they are available (there only seem to be a few). Using Windows 10 drivers should not be a problem in most cases if that's the only version available.

Another option: Do you have an original driver installation disk that came with the board? While they would be very outdated by now, it should be able to at least get everything working. You can then update the drivers that have new versions.

After acquiring what you need, store those drivers somewhere to make your life easier in future.

Yeah, Windows Update should snag drivers for almost all those.
If it doesn't, 5 year old drivers are still probably fine.
