does using a launcher on android categorized as rooting ?? also like using swiftkey,home switcher,third party theme such as go launcher also categorized as rooting ?? i am currently using a nexus 5

I'm not completely certain, but I don't think Google voids your warranty if you root. They are very open to modification.

You don't need to worry as you can't find any app on the Play Store that will automatically root your phone, it's against Google's policy. You will find apps that will take advantage of root access on the Play Store but even downloading them is okay. All that'll happen is they won't function properly. There are even some apps that require root access for only some features. You can still use those apps but those specific features will not work for you without root access.

For further information, this is (one method of) rooting:

 

 

You'd need to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery, neither of which can be done by apps from the Google Play store.
