Are 8 Cores enough for THIS?

Hey everyone!
I have recently been planning my new PC build, and so far I've decided to go with the R7 7800X3D, but lately I haven't been sure.
Since I'm not only gonna be using my PC for gaming, I figured it might also be a good option to go for an Intel CPU to have those additional cores for all the other things i regularly do like Image Editing, Video Editing, Streaming, Video Recording and such workload.

What do you guys think? Are the 8 cores of the 7800X3D enough for all my workload stuff, or am I better off with like a 13600K or something similar?
Any CPU recommendations in the same price range?
(Additional Info: The PC will first have a 3060 Ti, but will later be upgraded to a 4070 Super)

Thanks for the help.

if you are going to get an intel processor get the 14700/k. About the same price as the 7800X3D but MUCH better at productivity

Are you buying the 3060 ti new? Are you buying from a previous pc? (i.e are upgrading a pc)

The 14700K isn't the same price tho... it's about 100 bucks more expensive.. and the 3060 Ti will be used from my old PC.

What about the 13700K?
And all things aside: would it even make sense to go for LGA1700? Since the new Intel CPUs won't be on the same socket, there's no upgrade path without a new mainboard. Would an AM5 CPU make more sense then?

7800X3D is a waste of money if not used for mainly gaming.

13700K is practically as good as 14700K, should OC equally as well I believe.

7900x is pretty close so why not just go for a 7900(x) or maybe even a 7900x3d if you game or have something that can use the cache cores?

good boards are alot cheaper (starts from the ridicolously overbuilt b650m hdv) and you also have an upgrade path

14700k has 4 extra e cores over the 13700k but thats about it, seems like it does fall behind the 7900x abit so might aswell go amd if you arent gonna go for the 14700k

If you are concerned about an upgrade path, and need more cores for productivity, there is the Ryzen 9 7900(X) for only about $15 more than the 7800X3D.

Its productivity performance is pretty much between that of the 13700K and 14700K, while drawing less power. Its gaming performance is a bit weaker - generally only matching previous generation parts like the 5800X3D or 12900K. But that's certainly not slow, and is plenty to handle a 4070 Super.

it's not

AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4.2 GHz 8-Core Processor (100-100000910WOF) - PCPartPicker

Intel Core i7-14700K 3.4 GHz 20-Core Processor (BX8071514700K) - PCPartPicker

it's only $17

if you want to get am5 for upgrade path then get the 7900x as others have said

It performs very similar to the 14700 in productivity but the 14700 is quite a bit better in games

Though for a 3060 ti or a 4070 it won't matter

Thanks for the help.

What are you using now?

How intense is your editing?  Big boy money making stuff or just add moms face to Dad's body stuff?

Realistically if you're using shit now, anything you get will be a huge upgrade.

Like going from a 10 year old Honda Civic to a Corvette or Ferrari, won't matter since the upgrade is sooooo huge.
