So I was reading the specs here:

http://ark.intel.com/products/43546/Intel-Core-i5-650-Processor-4M-Cache-3_20-GHz

And it says "

Memory Types

DDR3-1066/1333

"

Does this mean that if the memory I'm buying, just as an example, is 1600, it will not run or it will just bump down to 1333?

It also said

# of Memory Channels 2

So does this mean that if I were to get 4x4, it would not work? My motherboard only supports 4gb per stick so I thought I could just get 4x4 to get 16gb total. Would this work or no?

Thank you very much :)

both of those will work. a 1600MHz will just go down to 1333 and 2 chanels means that you can have more bandwith than one chanel. the cpu itself will support up to 32GB of ram in whatever kind of stick config

"# of Memory Channels 2":

that's the number of memory channels, not the number of memory sticks

you can use 4 sticks, and they will run in dual channel

1333 MHz thing:

that's just the guaranteed speed, you will be able to run your ram at 1600 with no problem

the 4770k is rated for 1333/1600, but can handle 2400 or whatever you throw at it

Great question, but why are you thinking about getting 16gb of ram with an old I5 and stuff?

Going to be upgrading to the 4770k soon. Thought I would buy the ram first though and throw it in my old rig for now.
