"Future Proof" GPU Upgrade

Budget: Fluid but about ~200$US prefered

Country: SEA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

FPS (VAL, CS2), Gacha (HI3, Arknights via Bluestacks, etc.), 1080P Editing (Davinci Resolve), 1080p 24fps streaming/recording for team VOD review, School work, Emulation, Data Storage (currently just 3TB).

Other details

Upgrading from previous build, going from I3-10105 with 16GB Ram and a handmedown RX 570 8gb.

Currently just using one display (1080p 165hz) but plan to get another one later for work.

For now I'm heavily GPU bottlenecked, the 570 just isn't good enough for my use case. I'm also upgrading to an I5 11400f or 15 12400f + mobo switch (still cheaper than mobo switch + R5 5600 here)

Options are:

160$US - Asus TUF GTX 1660 SUPER O6G

195$US - MSI Radeon RX 6600 MECH 2x 8G

Use case likely will not change in the future.

(Future proof as in not bottlenecked by an 11th/12th gen I5)

Theyre alright GPUs, this one should be a lot better for the price though, only $30 extra and will be much more "future proof" as it performs better than a 3060, though its still only 8gb of VRAM

The 6600 is the better gpu.

Also what board are you getting with a 12400f? A lot of the super cheap boards WILL cause a performance loss as their vrms are just so trash they can't even run a lower end 6 core cpu properly. The loss is noticable

I won't call a 6600 future proof, but for $200 it's the best you can get

What kind of future proof are we talking about?

Neither GPU seems future proof in general sense.

But in a sense of which GPU is faster for 200$ upgrade, it's AMD:

But it's barely an upgrade, 200$ is only about 65$ more than what you'd buy a new RX 570 right now for.

Though if you aren't worried about playing brand new games on high graphics, then I guess it's alright for more smooth operation.

Future proof was probably the wrong term, I just meant wouldn't be too much of a bottleneck for an 11th/12th gen I5.

I said fluid 200$US but that's actually the low end, can go to 350$ or even more. Also, used market prices are way lower :v

I'm not really a "Gamer" so 1080p, 120fps on med~high is what I'm looking for, I also don't play newer games tbh, just those that randomly peek my interest so story games. (´- ̫-`)

I just need a slightly smoother experience on School related task like Davinci and Photoshop, that's why I thought small CPU upgrade and finally throw this 570 away cause it's just not it.

I'm not really a "Gamer" so 1080p, 120fps on med~high is what I'm looking for on most fps // puzzle // story games.

For Davinci, I only work on 3~20 min videos at 1080p 24fps cause it's school work.

Don't care about wether something is used or new, just as long as it gets the job done and well, this PC starting not to.

6700XT/6750XT would be your best bet then, much better performance and 12GB VRAM

A rx570 has been discontinued for years. Its a 2016 card. The ones you see around are refurbs which are stupid overpriced.

Photoshop how much ram do you have? Also thats likr 99% cpu single core perf based.

As for davinci yup nice upgrade for it.

Sell the rx570 even if for cheap gets you a nice bit of change to get you a better gpu or board.

350 is EASY 6700xt territory ehich is a WAY better card and will do 1080p 120fps for a decently long time whilst a rx6600 at med-high is near capped for performance already. So wont be too long before it starts falling downards and no longer be what you want.

A 1660 super already cant do that well anymore.

On eBay, the 5700xts are going for pretty low and that’d be about the same as a 3060 or 6600.  You might be able to snag a 6700xt on eBay for a litte over your budget.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

well if your lag isn't just CPU based there's options, you could also just see how the PC goes wtih RX 570 with the new CPU,

I'd look for 6600 XT / 5700 XT / 6650 XT / 7600

since they're all similarly priced you could go for the cheapest one of them,

and for the maximum fastest option probably 7600 XT, for overkill futureproof at 1080p with 16GB of VRAM for the intense graphics story games bring,

but it's not necessary, the 8GB selection of cards can last a while too
