Looking for recycled/refurbished laptop

Have a family member that has an old laptop that I am hoping to burn - its an old 15+ year old netbook running Windows 7, and I shudder to think of the security implications of them continuing to use it.  I was hoping to find even an old refurbished laptop from even 10 years ago that at least gets them into a slightly more modern era.  Not sure if I can trust the sub-$250 listings on FB or Craigslist though.

Grab a Thinkpad off of eBay, something like a T480. That is always the answer.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
