replacing old parts.....is PSU enough?

Killjoy_NS

Interesting. According to specs, 5700x and 5800x are not so different.
You can't make ideal conditions nor you can't be certain that everything is perfect....you know.....like perfect environment.
Bunch of tests are synthetic...

Looking at this "chart" from above....it's like 2-3% of difference...

Not big of deal....if difference in price is like 10 bucks....then go for more...

There are not any big differences even between 5600x and 5800x (5-10%)...
I mean....CORES....yes.....there is probably....15-20% of difference.....everything else is same....but how many of us....."regular" users are using multicore apps?

I heard that coffee's good for my sex life.

Beyond 6 it makes very little difference in the majority of games. Certain ones can and will utilize more, I have a few that will fully load up a Ryzen 9 7900x. The big difference though comes in generational architecture and/or x3D.

Oh, ok.
What kind of games utilize full Ryzen 7900x?

MMO's, New World was one. Star Citizen did, also the Battlefield games love crushing all the cores.

I don't have one from my 7900x but this was Star Citizen on a 7800x3D at 4K.

I wondered, since isn't it almost the same as 5800x3D except some minor differences? they have same amount of cores

They perform nigh the same sometimes there is a difference that is noticeable

Just so you know we are recommending the 5700x3d which is ENTIRELY different from a 5700x. So make sure not to confuse that.

Also gaming doesn't have to be expensive. You can EASILY get by for years with a affordable system that over time becomes cheaper to own than a console due to the fact we don't have to pay a sub for online and we have actual game sales.

Yeah, I know that. There is regular 5600, 5700, 5800 then we have "x" versions and "x3D"...
I'll se if I can fit the price.... 😄

Well "gaming is expensive" sport....following "trends" is more like it....having everything "the latest" and newest.

That's what I meant.

I've got bunch of games on Steam.
Even more on EPIC since there are bunch of free games...
Even LESS on Origin aka EAapp.

You can check my Steam account if u want.

I don't think I can USE more than 10GB of VRAM for gaming.
I mean.....I'm not complicated person....I do not require stable 150fps.....I'm satisfied with stable 60fps or even 30fps....decent res.....no screen tearing....and I HATE Motion Blur stuff.....so that stuff is always off.

Knowing me, first game I'll probably play is NFS Most Wanted from 2005. 😄

VRAM don't give more frames, it gives more detailed image...10GB is just okay at 1440p, but at UW1440p Ultra my 3080 10GB was choking in TWW3 and CP2077 .... Now with my 7900XTX I was able to install a super nice 4K res big modpack for CP2077 that needs up to 23GB VRAM, but can do no problemo ! 🙂

not really, though I'm not sure of 5700x3D wouldn't be better for gaming instead of 5800x

@PDifolco do you have overview on this comparison?

The monitor is 1080p 75Hz, basic

At 1080p the 3D chip will make a difference, but the monitor will nullify it for the most part when it's above 75 FPS

yes, but it's the 3D variant of 5700x which is faster than 5800x non-3D,

in the game average chart the 5700x3d is ahead of 5800x by 20fps, it is with 4090 so with weaker GPU maybe that difference is less,

but if you look at 1% lows, the 5700x3D is also ahead there, the 5700x3D on average didn't drop below 100fps, while 5800x didn't drop below 85fps,

more or less, I can tell a difference between 100 and 200fps, and I have 60Hz monitor, because it has 1ms response the faster fps can still be somewhat felt

it depends, League of Legends still runs on toaster, you'd still want a Microwave though since barely getting 60fps still looks terrible in fast paced games

I've put the wrong display.

P.S. It goes up to 165Hz on Display Port and it is connected with DP.

5700x3D is $240 in the US, 5800x3D is $290-$313 depending if you can shop at Microcenter or not.

IMO if budget is in any way a concern, 5800x3D is dead, 5700x3D is 98% of it for a discount.

Well, budget is somewhere up to 200-220€ or dollars....so.....I have to save more money for X3D....

OOOOr......is Ryzen 5700 (without X) even an option?

Not one I'd consider, its a sizable step down from the 5600/5800x options, and a no where close to the x3D's. Its more akin to the G series APU's but without the iGPU. A 5600 would be a much better option.

Well, I'm in doubt here....basically......differences between 5600-5700-5800 are.....ridiculous.
Ok, X3D is......HELL YEAH....my budget is pretty thin for that CPU.

8 cores are better in multi-core performances.....by 20-25% than 5600/5600x.
I'm considering 5600x right now.
Looking at this chart.....(not looking at X3D versions) differences between 5600-5700x-5800x ARE really ridiculous.

It's 10-15fps at the most......but we are looking at 100+ percent...
I kinda think that price difference is not justified comparing to performance.

What do you think?
I'm opened for opinions....but I've expected atleast 20-30% difference....

I don't know what your prices are but the minimum i'd suggest is a 5600. TBH the only CPU's I suggest anymore on AM4 is the 5600 (non-X) and 5700x3D.

Take a look at this...

 YouTube video/photo

I mean.....real difference FOR ME is between 5600x and 7700x.
It's like 30+ fps.
But....I don't know.....I can't make up my own mind....but....I'll consider every suggestion from you guys.
If I can't afford 5800 X3D, I'll go with 5600x probably since 5600x is a "little bit" slower but draws less power and it is probably less "furnace".
