Past parts shouldn't really have any bearing on new part suggestions. Its worth while or its not, regardless of what you had before.

I mean....even Ryzen 2600 was a pretty good cpu....but let's say....I want something from "the end of AM4/DDR4/PCIeX4" generation.
Than.....knowing me.....I'm gonna skip a decade of upgrading.... 😄 😄 :D.....aaaand I'm gonna get....let's say....:AM50 generation. 😄

I heard that coffee's good for my sex life.

I guess it depends how many background programs or any other programs you'd use, though 5600 isn't slow by itself (I have it myself)

the 5700x I guess is only useful for the extra 2 cores it provides, which in gaming translates to roughly 0-1% increase in performance,

so you'd be paying more for less gaming power increase 5700x vs 5600x, whre 5600 can lose the x and still perform like it's x variant with some tweaks

Yeah, 5600 and 5600x are the same after one setting. If the price is small then it doesn't matter but that just depends on the day and what they're going for at the time.

5600 might be arguably better since it might aswell be the tuned version of 5600x that doesn't "drink" as much power

Throw PBO on (that one setting) and they're effectively the same though.

idk what setting you mean, but yeah PBO shenanigans, I don't even know if my PBO is the best one I just know it's enabled and there's a small voltage reduction applied

Interesting. You're getting my point.....price comparison and performance comparison.

At my retailer, 5600 is almost double cheaper than 5800X3D, but performance increase is.....20%....30%?
I would expect at least 50%.

I know that basically 5600 and 5600x is "faster" by 300MHz?
It is not even important. I don't know how single core performance affect anything THAT MUCH for 300MHz....I mean it is little difference.

They are actually the same CPU.

Personally, I'm keeping everything DEFAULT except XMP...

you can, PBO is just a feature that's out there for you to turn on basically, unless you're on stock cooler PBO is basically win win situation

I've got TT ToughAIR 310. It seems that it's capable of cooling much hotter cpus.

that one's pretty decent, it's nothing I've heared of but I recognise the brand and the design of the cooler, 4 heat pipes is great spec

Basic single tower. Good for AMDs six core options, and the low TDP 8-cores(5700x). Thermalrights fantastic dual towers are cheaper and far better.

yes, I have AG400 + 5600, and it basically stays under 60C when nothing serious, and below 65-70C regardless of stress or not
