hey this is my build log of hooking up consoles to a tv and the things to do and dont along the way. thing's will be updated and things have happen that i didn't take a pic of. but when things are done ill get pics.

 

so a bit about myself. i been in to retro since i was little. playing a nes with my dad playing smb and smb3 till one day i tripped over the power cord and that was that. until i found a power adapter and it worked. borrowed a few games from my grandma here and there. (top gun, link,zelda,dr mario rad racer, for get the rest) my grampa played dr mario all the time. suposbly he played Atari...

 

my dad did buy a snes and a few games. Phalanx, mario kart, link to the past, smw and the (free) mario all stars. after that one point i killed the power plug on the snes and he got another killer instinct system. after that rest of the games i got from pwn shops. some point i bought my own pc so had emulators for all the other games but still loved collecting and playing on the systems. one point i had most of the common systems but sold them as we were moving. back then you could get a gc for like $5 as i would fined them at sos stores, best find was dremcast for $14, 360 for $20 pokeymon yellow for $3. 

 

anyway some point i had a really big crt as my dad got it as hes a taxie driver and they were going to pawn it off and ether they didn't want it or my dad offered to buy it for $200. some time i moved out and had this tv. later on we upgraded to an lcd tv and gave the tv to some one els at the time i didn't play the systems on the lcd or ied probably no about the imputlag or did but thought i just sucked a gaming as i did play wii with nsmb(didn't get past world 2...). i just played on my pc and yes i did have crts as well i was old school well gave thows away too. (they were not good crts thow)

 

 

i wanted to mod the crt...but never ended up doing it...

 

consoles:

nes famicom top loader: (with custom svideo/rca cable) svideo not working so its running composite

why a famicom top loader? it has a multi out port. i have 2 dog bone controllers for it one im tying to make wireless with 8bitdo mod kit (battery cable too short...) also got a oem nes controller wireless 8bitdo kit with transparent orange buttons. will have 1 wired oem nes controller and dogbone.

have a transparent orange wired controller and a orange shell swapped waive bird witch i need to cut slots in to still and swap the reserve shell over.

i do have a media cd so sd card reading for a few emulators but meh.

got a HomeSpot TV Dock with Ethernet dock but its wired how it works so might change it out. i was looking at this one but dont no (got this one)

well got another dock...and going to try this with it... could be a wast of moeny people say they dont last long. also got this too.

i was going to hook everything thow a ossc but it added alot of distortion to the sviseo making it look like composite so that was a wast of money.

 

you can buy retro tink 2x with muilty out and it will work with the nes,snes,n64 and gamecube with no lag but that $200 each and there like imposable to fine now... but that would have been the best way if you want to use the original console. there are hdmi nes and snes and i think genisies but there vary costly but so its buying cable so is buying/moding a console so... imo a mini nes,snes,genices,ps is the way to go thow they cost a bit these days too and the fakes... eon made an adapter to hdmi for the og xboxs but it made it too dark so might be a new gen?(ya new gen fix this problem) but they too cost like $200

 

most consoles can be modded for rgb or hdmi but they too cost a bit. and its a waiting game on ebay looking for a deal. $250 for a rgb n64 not too bad)

 

original plan was to put all the consoles in 2 server racks and use hdmi cable to an auto switcher but the cable are junk and add way too much input lag so a wast for $200. building in the server rack also became a pita as there alot of cables so i just got shelves.

 

today i got a Kramer 8x8 S-Video Audio Matrix Switcher VS-808YC seems to work except for the nes...

still need a way of hooking all the audio up.

 

for the component its hooked up to 2 extron sw4 aw witch im looking to get a 8 or 16 cross point that can also do audio but it works for now.

 

for composite its hooked to an sima svs 4d my nes and sega genesis for now also has 4 svideo but dose not look vary good i think its dying... 

 

i have a legend le316r (with box) witch works with svideo and 2 component but only has 4 svideo

 

myTouchSmart Wireless Programmable Outdoor/Indoor Digital Timer with Remote for power on and off only works with one per house any more would get you more remotes and base but will be on the same timer...

 

for power atm i just have a big TROND Surge Protector Power Bar but i want to have on/off power for each console so im looking at something like this.

update: came across an smoke ps1 shell so...had to get it...

got a Technical Pro Rack Mount 17 Outlet on/off

retro fighters GRAY DEFENDER and green retro fighters hunter controllers

as well as 2x Philips PH61150 switchers. probably will need 2 more...

ya i should really have gone mini consoles... or bight the bullet and gone retro tink...

a crt of some sort would also be nice.

well swapped the ps1 micro shell. looks good and was easy to do.

 

also my TROND Surge Protector Power Bar  broke... well part worked and part didn't so...i opened it up and found one wire not solder... ya i dont trust these things... good for 1800w they say...

so...i changed my mind shocker to no one... i got 5 Philips PH61150 automatic switchers so no needing to push buttons (ya im lazy or thing to make old more modren...)

one will be composite one component and one svideo well one being the switcher between them inputs (think should work...) and a 5th one well price was right as i was spending a $100 each i found a few that were $50 each so...

 

as for power i no i got the on/off rack mount power thing but i might have an ideal to use remote plug on/ff ( takes aaa) as most consoles have an on/off power i can just leave it on. ps2, wii, xbox wont work thow as they are momentary but nes, snes, n64, sega genesis, ps1, gamecube all should work.  (ya im going to have a pile of remotes... but hey now i dont need to move from the chair right... oh i have problems...

 

i also got a smoked game boy player shell, orange ps1 shell, orange n64 shell, 2 orange micro sd memory cards for ps2. still need to get a ps1(got a ps1) and find a ps2 that fits my orange case or posably find a cd drive for the one i got as that is broken.

well finally got my transparent orange n64...for the second time... ya i had one back in the day. moved and didn't have a job well i didn't have to sell it i did any way and with 4 matching orange memory cards... but now i got it back...

 also ps1 came in with an orange memory card. waiting for the orange shell for it. the ps1 has an io but the shell dose not...so hope it fits... find out my snes everdive 5x dose not play all games.. and well cant play the one i want to..so might have to get the 6x... or get a snes mini...

 

Kramer VP-725NA upscaler seems to work and not add lag as far as i can tell and gives options. ya i still have to push buttons but ill probly sell it as a retrotink is what i want and need.

 

only needed 3x Philips PH61150 switchers other 2 dont no re sell or something or just keep. few came up like half price and well i got em... only thing that dose not work is the nes with svideo thow any switcher so that hooked to the tv atm  composite but the cable looks so good dam...

well im getting there. changed up were then consoles are and tv so this looks better and tv is hier up. still need to move the gc to the left rack.

 

still working on the rest hdm setup on main tv

 

audio is still not setup but i got it working with 2 bt headphones as well works with main tv and pc audio to both headphones...

 

still need a way to hook up 4 consoles to the digatal audio but i have an idea.

 

when done all the audio of all my pcs 98,xp,w7,w10,offline, tv and consoles should all be hooked up is the plan...

got a few orange skins for wii,wiiu,360,ps3 as there no orange shell for them as far as i no

 

for the audio was a fail.. spent like $50 on a 4x4 toslink that did not work, got some toslink "splitors" witch also did not work and the auto switching toslink is envying as when there no sound it switch back to the left port so... i spent more moeny and got some digital to analog and analog to digital adapters and got another rca 6x2. i think this should work...

then sound from both bt heads sets can be use for anything is the plan probly about $300 in to this audio alone... dont do what i do haha when i get everything setup ill post all the parts and how there hooked up what to buy and not too. i would not do toslink i would stick with analog i was just having problems with it and toslink dose get you way more volume and is grate for long distance. some sort of audio compressor would be nice to make all the audio the same level but i dont no what to get...

 

i did find a toslink splitter that works but could not find a setup to make it work.

so i got a transparent orange\purple gamecube shell looks like just came out. ill sell the other one i got.

 

there also a red shell one witch was tempting but i would just be shell swapping and re selling so i dont no but with bf i was tempting...
