I need help on deciding if this is the setup for me

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jJqTxH

I have a part list that I really would like to get started on. Of course, I'm not starting with all these parts ($8000 would be too crazy for me!). I'm mainly going to use this for Blender and graphic-intensive gaming.

Here is how I will assemble this computer:

  1. Buy the basic parts (My GPU will be the 7900 listed, and I will buy both the small and large SSDs, the small one will be for the OS.)
  2. First assembly
  3. Upgrade desk and chair
  4. Add other parts later when I financially can and finish up with the 4090 and Valve Index.

I am open to any suggestions and discussions!

Fucking hell $700 PSU... This is not  real list, more like a fantasy one.

Rework this list. 7800X3D baseline for CPU and then spec if you actually need anything more powerful (I doubt it). Overkill motherboard. Just pick 1 kit of RAM. What will you do with a 58GB SSD? Case is missing fans. Don't pay full price for Windows. So on and so on...

Desktop: Ryzen 7 5800X3D - Kraken X62 Rev 2 - STRIX X470-I - 3600MHz 32GB Kingston Fury - 250GB 970 Evo boot - 2x 500GB 860 Evo - 1TB P3 - 4TB HDD - RX6800 - RMx 750 W 80+ Gold - Manta - Silent Wings Pro 4's enjoyer

SetupZowie XL2740 27.0" 240hz - Roccat Burt Pro Corsair K70 LUX browns - PC38X - Mackie CR5X's

Cheaper, faster RAM

Better storage, way overpaying and the 58gb one for 32 quid? Why?

Much cheaper PSU

Better cooler

Is the 4090 in addition to the 7900xt for processing power while using blender? if not, do not get both, pick one and save for it, or get the other and keep the savings, thats just throwing away money

Do you need a $300 keyboard?

And $142 mouse?

A 48" monitor? Just get an ultrawide or...yknow, 2 or 3 good ones for that price

You can also get a cheaper case as H9 Flow isnt good for air coolers, H6 Flow is much better and cheaper

System specs:

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D [-30 PBO all core]

GPU: Sapphire AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT NITRO+ [1050mV, 2.8GHz core, 2.6Ghz mem]

Motherboard: MSI MAG B650 TOMAHAWK WIFI

RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB 32GB 6000MHz CL32 DDR5

Storage: 2TB SN850X, 1TB SN850 w/ heatsink, 500GB P5 Plus (OS Storage)

Case: 5000D AIRFLOW

Cooler: Thermalright Frost Commander 140

PSU: Corsair RM850e

Figures. I've done a much simpler build than this and I've only recently got into LTT. Help is much appreciated!

2 28" 4k monitors with higher refresh rate, if you need the 4K for both go for it, if not you can save another 2-300 quid, the smaller screen size will look much better as itll have a much higher pixel density

Theres also a major cut down on components and component cost

Are you going to be doing much blender on this? i can get you a higher performing build again for cheaper if its mostly gaming

Also removed these as i believe theyre software or other assets not pc components

Thing is, I use PCPP because it helps me see how much money I'm investing in this project and helps me decide whether this thing is worth investing in or not.

Few more queries, gaming or blender, if gaming centric you can get more performance for cheaper

Do you need a big monitor? If not;

Do you want 2 monitors, if so do you need 2 4K monitors or is one monitor for gaming and the other will be used for like youtube/discord and can be swapped out for a cheaper model?

Thats fair enough

but having 2 lists will be more beneficial,

and buying 2 GPUs and a $700 PSU is not, so narrowing it down to what is needed is a necessary starting point for just the PC, then the desk, chair, valve index etc can be reintroduced

You have 1 list solely for what pc components you need to buy and another for overall project cost

I have a monitor from my previous setup, I will probably use that. One of my relatives would like to buy my old tower if I move on to this project. I will use that monitor for references in my Blender projects and my main window for actually working it.

So youd like 1 new 4K and no secondary as you have it covered, and which of these

How far will you be sitting from a 48'' monster? Hoping you're not gonna be placing that on a desk at arms length from you. You won't even see the edges of your screen. I'd recommend downscaling it to a 32'' monitor.

Here are the changes I've made so far:

  1. Downgraded to Windows 11 Home
  2. Upgraded to Full Tower
  3. Exchanged 7900 for 4070Ti
  4. Shrunk monitor to 32.0"
  5. Removed mouse
  6. Exchanged keyboard for K70 Pro Mini

I will also make a separate list for the first build. The build listed is the final product.

I've made the new list, also I swapped out the power supply so it's not as expensive but still supports the wattage estimated in the final build.

Few questions,

Why the 990 pro, its $100 more expensive for roughly the same performance youll feel with the UD90

Again the 58gb drive, windows 11 will saturate the drive and 58gb might not even be enough to install it in the first place as 64gb is recommended, if your drive is more than 90% full itll slow down trying to access it and when the sn580 i posted is $10 more for 500gb, thats 10x the storage for 1.2x the price, that lets you install whatever OS driven programmes you might want on that drive aswell as the OS and keep your game and file drive free

go for 2x32 sticks as DDR5 runs much slower and unstably in quad channel, also 2x32 sticks are cheaper overall than 4x16 anyway

The video card, a 4070Ti Super is a decent option but why not the 7900xtx, better raw performance than the 4080Super at $100 extra than the 4070Ti Super

Your max wattage (see: MAX, not average) is 633W, why do you need a 1200W PSU? For triple the price of one that would easily cover the wattage

Also dont buy windows 11, you can get a key for $5-10 instead of paying $125 for it

I picked this PSU because I plan on adding more parts to it, like the MSI 4090 GPU. While I might not need it now, I will definitely need it later, so I figured I might as well get the more powerful one.

Do you plan on running both Gpus together at once?

If yes, fair enough.

If no;

Yeah, my old monitor will still be using the 7900 XTX, but my new monitor and VR headset will use the 4090.

Im not sure what AIB brand GPUs you want but theyre the cheapest 7900xtx and 4090 on PCPP currently as placeholders

1200W 80+ Platinum A Tier PSU for less than half the ROG Thor

I do rate the case though, tis a good choice

It's a rust-deterrent compound. You're supposed to use it with screws and metal, but it works very well as a thermal compound. (@mryeester on YT)

Oh interesting, is it non conductive also? Is there any benefit over other standard high end thermal pastes like MX-6 or NT-UH1/2 etc

Yes consider using real thermal paste instead, it's much better.
