Which OS is right for my system?

hey, this is my first time setting up my home server with an OS, I just put it together but got the parts a while ago, for now Im starting with 2TB of storage + a 128GB SSD boot drive which I have externally connected via USB (because I ran out of sata and data connectors). im not sure what OS I should use for it. I need to view it on my MAC and PC as well as add files from both machines all vie the network. any suggestions?

thanks!

Windows home or pro can also handle these tasks if you’re more familiar with it and don’t want to learn something new. I run an unactivated version of pro on my nas/server and it works perfectly. To be fair I paid for a full version of home and then realized it didn’t do some features that I wanted. So I just switched to pro unactivated.
