PopCorn Time question

I want to use a custom torrent for a certain film but I don't really know if it is infected in anyway. If I use a custom torrent on popcorn time and I click and drag it across and it isn infected can I still get infected. It's just that popcorn time doesn't actually download the file it just caches it or something.

Like I said it was a custom torrent that I set up. Sorry if that wasn't clear. It's not of a film it's just some gaming footage I put up to test some stuff out but it was on my old computer first and it might have been infected. Sorry if I didn't make that clear.

Generally viruses can't do any damage unless they are run, and I would presume that no sensible torrent client would run the torrent if it's executable. If it's a video, I don't know but popcorn time *should* show the video in a sandbox so you should be alright. No guarantees though.

if it's an actual video, it won't run malicious code.

If you are sharing it with bittorrent, you can be heat-death certain that the file you made the torrent with is the file you're going to download.
