Is there any way to set a limit for fan speed/rpm?

Im looking if there is a way to limit fan speed for the gpu because at a certain rpm/fan speed it would make a loud grinding noise.

Im looking for a way to limit the fan speed to 70-71 % at the same time is still set to automatic so it wont always go 71% when the gpu is idle and im not gaming. so it goes 0% when idle and if i put workload it would slowly climb at 71% when playing..

You can set a custom fan curve, and have the fan curve max out at 70%. You can do that either with a tool like MSI Afterburner or with a more general tool like FanControl if you'd rather.

Yeah, whatever software you use will have a "set to defaults" button somewhere, and if you don't have the software running, it will run at default. The fan control software (either Afterburner, FanControl, Wattman, etc.) doesn't actually change any of the firmware on the card, it takes control away from the firmware and has software control handle it fully.

I forget exactly how that works, but I know it should just change how the software communicates with the fan controller on the GPU, not the actual firmware on the card.

If you're really concerned bout it, you could just not use that setting.
