Alrighty. TLDR I have upgraded my CPU and the computer turns on but will not post now.

I'm upgrading from a ryzen 5 1600 to a Ryzen 7 5700x. Motherboard is a MSI X570-A pro. While the old CPU was in I updated the bios to the most recent, and updated my CPU/chipset drivers. But when I swapped the CPU it wouldn't post. So I took it to my buddy who's a little more involved in PC's and he fixed it by downloading some "Ryzen Master" software or something to make it read and post. Launched some games and stuff to confirm it was working under load. Sounds solved already?

Nope. I took home the PC after seeing it start reliably like 5 times. Upon plugging it in at home it's not posting again! I checked general stuff like loose GPU, and cables being plugged in. I'm so confused as to why it's giving me so much trouble since the parts are supposed to be directly compatible.

Forgot to add that it still boots right up and works perfectly with the old Ryzen 5 1600 as is if I reinstall it. So nothing is broke or damaged I don't believe

What cooler are you using? What position was the PC in while it was being tested (i.e. lay flat or vertical?)?

The cooler is a 240mm aio from Corsair, and I've tested the computer both laying down and vertically

Hmm, unlikely to be a tightening/loosening issue then.

The only other difference I can think of is the cable type (e.g. HDMI, DP). There's also USB devices.

By the way, by not POST, what exactly do you mean? A black screen?

When I say "not posting" I mean that the fans spin, and the rgb lights up, but nothing appears on the screen. I am certain the monitors, keyboard, and mouse are on and connected. I tried both DP and HDMI to the monitors from my RTX 2070, and even though I don't think Ryzen has any sort of integrated graphics, I tried the motherboard HDMI port just in case. I should also mention that the "EZ debug" led lights on the motherboard aren't telling me much either. They briefly illuminate upon startup like they always have, but none of them remain on to indicate an issue

This is the current state of the PC. (Sagging GPU is bc the screw on the case is loose ATM) The CPU led will illuminate, but after a few moments it switches to the video output led and stays that way. I've checked the seat on the pcie riser cable, as well as the GPU on the riser

what is the little red debug led stuck on the upper right corner?

Looks like CPU debug light

@OP
You're 100% certain that the BIOS update went though?

How hard is it to remove the riser? I ask because I assume it is another point of elimination, or did the PC work fine with the riser when your friend was playing?
