I just started plating the Witcher, and I am totally lost.  I am surrounded by three guys, and having switched to the right fighting style. I don't see what I am supposed to do, Gerait's swings never hit, and I can't block three people at once.  What am I missing?

Nothing, the combat is not easy. You have to time blows. Click once, twice then three times in the perfect order and it will work. The combat system isn't great. Look it up on YT. Also, you don't hit 100% of the time.

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

Witcher 1 was good. Combat may have been slow, but it was still a good game. At the end chapter's it got quite hard.

I found it rather easy to pick up on the combat system.

Great game once you can get passed this small hurdle.

Combat confused me at first but you get used to it. I didn't have a problem with it because I put 260 days into Runescape so ~50 hours of the Witcher was a step up in terms of that combat. The Witcher is a very good game, very worth playing even if you don't like the combat system.

I have kind of gotten the hang of it.  I am on my first boss battle, and at this point it seems like I can swing my sword and to the push back sign.  Neither of which do much against the the boss, so what now?

Oh the dog thing? That thing's a fucking bitch, look up some strategies and go in prepared with potions to buff damage and resistances.

No, it's not a dog, it's a guy who is working with the people trying to steal stuff from the lab, he has a red handkerchief over his face.

From the looks of it you don't pay any attention at all. Real quick, the fighting is very simple. You click once, starts a swing, wait till the sword icon turns to a flaming one, click again, rinse and repeat. If a sword strike doesn't hit the enemy is a fast one, you should use the fast style. If your strikes only do 3-5 damage, you should use the strong style. There are upgrades to the group style that improves the hit rate, but the more there is the more damage you do. Fast enemies can sometimes dodge the group style, if that happens try hitting a slower enemy because then your hit connects and because of the group style you hit the fast one as well.

TBH I don't really remember what that "first boss" is, lately I always went for the koshchey. But I think you just have to hack him with strong attacks.

A helpful tip: once you're in the outskirts of Vizima collect a LOT of herbs and alcohol because it'll help out in the bossfight against the Hellhound.

"Same rules since the first man picked up the first stick and beat the second man's ass with it."
