Having a hard time finding a replacement for a 1080ti

Gweepo

Haven't browsed these forums in years so sorry if I have this in the wrong spot. I have a EVGA 1080 ti FTW 3, that won the card lottery and boosts up to 1850 MHz, its almost turning 7 this year and probably should retire soon, the 4070 super is a attractive option seeming to be affordable(ish) with solid performance, but I'm concerned about the 5080's coming out and being a driver to lower costs. I have been out of tech for a few years and am having a hard time catching up so any advice, or additional research tools would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: On mobile and don't see a way to mark answered, thanks for all the advice, I think the 4070 super is the plan! Thanks all!

The 5080 won't be out for a while!聽 late late 2024 at the earliest.

The 4070 Super is a pretty decent card and it will be a nice upgrade over the 1080Ti.

As mentioned above, you can always wait for better components that are 'coming out soon'.. Many people fall into this trap and they never buy anything at all while you could have just bought that 4070 Super and had hundreds if not thousands of hours of fun already.

the thing is typically if a new gen comes out nowadays that does *not* mean necessarily prices of older gen drops by much, if at all.

because these cards are so powerful they're still good for years to come... yet are likely more affordable than newer gen still.

tldr: if ya'll waiting for price drops you'll always wait,聽 or something.聽

so get a 4070 super, best value right now.聽

or worse they buy something that's a bad deal because they waited so long they *really* need to upgrade... lol

There's聽always聽newer, faster, shinier hardware coming "soon". If you keep waiting for it, you'll wait forever.

Get something affordable that suits your needs as they are now.

Does your 1080ti not meet your needs?

Helldivers 2 runs about 45-50 fps on medium settings at 1440p. So technically yes I can play the game, but not as enjoyable as could be. Plus it's a 7 year old card with probably over 10k hours of runtime, I don't know how much longer it will last..
