Sata to usb

Kazooo

What kind of sata 2.5  to usb cable is best? Good power, reliability, etc.
Is the case kind better cause more protected/potentially better connection?
Is the cord kind better cause better ventilation?
Also what brands are legit?
My setup is on a bed so case would protect allot.
Thanks!

Connection wise, kinda. But if you dont' move around the drive the non case version is fine as well

Protection wise, well an enclosure is surely more protective than just cable, especially if the enclosure is a rugged type.

I don't think I've seen my enclosured 2.5" SSD ever hot enough that I'm thinking of better ventilation tbh.

If they do one day, I can just easily open one side of the enclosure since it's just a slide-in top, no screws and such.

Eh well, there's Orico, Ugreen, and some others.

I have an Orico and an obscure chinese brand one, they perform nearly the same.

Then get a case version

@Poinkachu Do hdds get hotter then ssds? the drives Id be putting in it are mostly hdds, (2 hdds + 1 hybrid)
Thanks!

@SpookyCitrus Thanks! Seems both of you recommended Orico. The pink looks nice!

Yes, HDDs will get hotter than SSDs. However, they won't get hot enough to cause an issue with the adapter or the enclosure. The enclosures are designed for 2.5" HDD specifically, but work with any sata drive that will fit in it.

I second what @SpookyCitrus said above.

I have no idea where you'll put it, how often you use it and such.

If you want to make sure its really secured in place (Since HDD vibrate and all), just use either a VHB tape, duct tape, or masking tape.

If there's 3 drives or above, and you don't really care about portability, Orico also made some Drive Docks.
