is there like any major performance difference between ddr4 and ddr5?

if you already have the DDR4 then get a ddr4 board, and unelss you're CPU bottlenecked most of the time (e.g. you've got a 4080 with the 13600k at 1080p) then it's not going to make a difference

Test system for below is a 14900k and 4090

had an idea to upgrade from my 10105f to 13600kf, now i have to choose mobo, if im gonna choose mobo with ddr5 im gonna be forced to get ddr5 modules but if i get ddr4 mobo, i can use my current 4000mhz ddr4 ram (its currently overclocked to 4400, also i looked up on internet and found out i can even go up to 4800mhz with no problems), is there like any major performance difference between ddr4 and ddr5?
(4800 vs 7200 for example)

do you have a site to buy parts? what country are you in? A Z790 UD from gigabyte could work well

Not understanding the 4400MHz RAM with a 10105f, as the CPU is woefully subpar compared to overkill RAM.

But yes, you're mostly right.  In the same build, DDR5 doesn't provide the benefit if you have to rebuy RAM.

I'm not saying it wouldn't work.  Just curious why you chose super fast RAM and a low budget CPU pairing.  That's all 🙂

Definitely save that RAM, good bit of money saved without buying DDR5.
