Should I sell the SSD or keep it?

Recently I RMA'ed my XPG Summoner Keyboard but since the keyboard is EOL I will be getting an SSD in it's place.

The SSD is an XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB. Now I have heard both good and bad things about this ssd.

The SSD costs quite a bit more than the Keyboard in my country. Would it be wise to keep this ssd for my laptop or sell it at a lesser than market price to get another keyboard?

Depends if you need more storage in your laptop, it's always useful to have plenty left for backups and other documents.

So I take it when XPG SUMMONS YOU, you get a better device in turn... XPG gut then? 😄

Honestly that's a good SSD. I'd keep it...

Mine still work, bought it around 3-4 years ago

So far I have no complaint about it, never had to RMA it.

Thermal can be quite hot on prolonged heavy use without a heatsink.

IIRC they were one of the focus of tech news about SSD manufacturers quietly changing some components on their product after early reviews came out.

One of the article : https://www.tomshardware.com/news/adata-switches-nand-on-sx8200-pro-ssd-performance-impacted

Although IMHO, for casual use, it most likely will never be a problem, at the very least when it's about speed that is.

Here's a benchmark of the various variants of SX8200 Pro by LMG:

(No idea if there's more variant after the video was made)

And no, ADATA not the only one doing it.

Since they're quite a big brand, and at that time SX8200 Pro was competing kinda toe-to-toe to that time's champion Samsung 970 Evo & Pro, while being sold cheaper (at least in my country), they got more people buying and noticing the difference (of the components and all) i guess.

Early review : https://www.techpowerup.com/review/adata-sx8200-pro-1-tb/15.html

By the way, check your laptop and see if a dual sided NVME can be installed in it without being bent. Some laptops have components in the middle of NVME slots, making some NVMEs with NAND module on both sides of the PCB bend/curve when installed.

Although it is still your discretion whether or not to use it or not even if it does bend.

If it's just a small bend, it will still work. I don't know whether it will be a big problem in the long-term though.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

It’s OK PCIe 3.0 SSD.

they did swap controllers and nand in that model, but all versions still have decent controllers, dram, and TLC nand.
