I'm trying to install windows 10 to an old pc I had from 2016, specs being i5-7400 and a gtx 1060ti. The old ssd died and now I'm trying to install the OS on an HDD (we're tryna cheap out) from a USB, but as seen in the photo it's stuck there for a while now. It's the very beginning, right after choosing whether the 32 or 64 bit. Is it just taking long? This is like the very beginning, no text has been seen

HDDs are very slow compared to an SSD, so could be entirely normal. Do you see any activity on the HDD LED? Or hear the HDD do anything?

Just in case, but I went from boot manager, chose my usb (if it matters chose USB Sandisk and not UEFI Sandisk since it boots to the PowerSpec loading screen that also just loops anyways) to choosing 32 or 64, and then loading file then windows logo loading. I haven't chosen partitions or anything yet

And if you mean this one that lights up red, then it did light up twice then now nothing, usb is lit up, but it's fading in and out. I also resetted the cmos already

Is it possible for this to be a hardware issue?

Could be. Maybe also some incompatibility between Windows 10 and the old hardware.

From your description above it sounds like the HDD is mostly idle at that point. Could be the installer is just busy checking what hardware is in the machine or similar.

You could potentially try a Linux-USB image, check if that is able to boot. That would help rule out the hardware if that one works.

Alright, just some quick info, B250 Pro4 mobo, never updated the bios ever since its purchase from 2016-17. Now, Linux Mint is running from the USB drive, NOT installed onto the internal drives of the pc, if this is what you wanted to see?

I switched to windows 11 just for uniformity on the rigs involved, but anyways, I used rufus to make an mbr and gpt version. Gpt made me disable csm but same thing happened, and as of writing mbr ain't doing anything either. Just stuck at the beginning. Linux Mint ran perfectly fine from USB though so I don't see why this is happening to windows and yes made it so requirements of tpm, secure boot, and a need for an ms online account is not needed
