Issues with graphic design

Hello everyone,

At the company where I work, we have 1 graphic designer. She is using an HP Z4 tower, with an Intel Xeon W-2223, 64GB of RAM, and an Nvidia RTX A4000. However, she is having issues working with all of her Adobe programs. When using Illustrator, her programs are frequently stuck loading for a while. This happens randomly, when she is not rendering or anything, just zooming in and out of her designs.

While rendering, the following things happen in task manager:

CPU: max 70% at 3.6GHz

RAM: max 50% usage (out of 64GB)

GPU: max 5% usage (just the displays i think)

Does anyone have tips on how to solve this? Maybe the CPU is not really made for this work, then i'm OK with buying a new system.

Sounds like Illustrator is not using the A4000. choose Help > System Compatibility Report. If reporting an error for the A4000. Update Illustrator and update GPU driver:

Update software and drivers Ensure that Adobe Illustrator and other Adobe applications are up to date. Also, update the graphics driver for the NVIDIA RTX A4000. You can download the latest driver from the NVIDIA website or use the GeForce Experience app.

Adjust performance settings in Adobe Illustrator, go to Preferences > Performance and ensure that the "GPU Performance" option is enabled. You can also try adjusting the "CPU Usage" setting to see if that improves performance.

The GPU is only used for some filters/effects, most is on the CPU and she's likely limited by the poor single core perf of that CPU. Try the above but it's likely it won't change much, if so look into a system with good single core perf.

Thank you for the recommendations everyone. I have just updated the GPU driver, and I can see the GPU peak now. She is going to test further, and if the performance is still poor, i will buy a system with a much better CPU.
