I can hear my audio going to sleep/waking up

Steven Schaefer

Windows 11 on a work laptop, so I don't have admin privileges.

I have a nice interface, but it's plugged into my personal computer. To hear my work laptop through my speakers and use my mic for calls, I have the laptop connected to the interface with the 3.5mm TRRS jack. I'm assuming that windows puts the built-in DAC of the laptop into some kind of "low-power" mode when it's not in use, and I can hear a small "pop", and I hear it again when I start playing sound again. I'm guessing it's always there but you can't really hear it on cheap headphones connected to the headphone jack.

It's not loud, but it's still annoying. Anybody know how to disable this? I checked in the power plan settings and no luck there. Maybe this is all controlled by the driver? But I have to get my work's IT to do that and without knowing it will work it's not worth the hassle.
