So I just bought the i7 14700k and I need to update my motherboard bios for it to work. But I can't access bios if the CPU doesn't work. The motherboard also does not have bios flashback button. What do I do?

The motherboard is the MSI Pro B760-P WIFI DDR4

Buy a cheap celeron or pentium that will work, update the BIOS and send it back within the 14 day limit.

Its a bit shady but hey.

Then why would you suggest it?

Is there any other way to do it without buying a CPU. Does the motherboard have any way of recognizing a bios update in a random USB slot?

What motherboard are you specifically using?

It looks like you would have to use a CPU that allows you to boot into the BIOS - no motherboard would also automatically recognize the BIOS file on your flash drive. You have to manually initialize BIOS updates.

I also don't support buying a CPU and then returning it after the fact - IMO, just keep it as a spare. You could also probably buy a used CPU instead of a brand new one.

Because its not actually illegal and its well within your rights as a consumer to return a product within the return time of 14 or 30 days.

I wouldn't feel bad about it at all if I did it with a company I have spent thousands of dollars on.

People return things all the time.

I guess it depends on your own morals.
