Can I have an integrated parallel port and a PCIe parallel port on the same desktop?

A Friendly ShyGuy

Hello. I wanted to ask if it’s possible to have more than one parallel port on the same desktop. One being on the integrated back panel, and the other on a PCIe slot. If it is possible, what are the benefits of having more than one?

The ports are numbered so you can have several. Kind of a strange question. The benefits of having more than one is you can plug in more than one thing.

That and the fact there is little use for parallel ports these days outside of retro use or hacking projects, the latter which makes more sense to do on something like a Raspberry Pi where GPIO is far more suited.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
