  it is in program files.

Try making a new user profile, and see if it lets you change defaults under that.

I've seen weird stuff like this happen when user profiles go a little corrupt.

Firefox is not listed in any "set by default"menu i n settings app, only IE and Edge re here.

  • The button in firefox (set as default) just open the same settings app
    • The solution described on firefox forum (choose edge, after click on set as default in browser) does not work
  • firefox reinstallation does not help
  • no errors found:

    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
      sfc /scannow

    • chkdsk

Are you installing Firefox just for yourself (so it's in your profile's Appdata folder), or for "Everyone" so it installs inside C:\Program Files ?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
