Does this mic require phantom power or no?

Hello, I've bought a mic - DNA DNC Game, and I've been chatting with the 3rd party site I bought the mic from customer support and they're saying that the mic does not require phatom power, yet when I type in to chat gpt it says that the mic does require a phantom power. Can somoene help me and tell me exactly if I need "phantom power" or no? Thank you. I'll attach a picture of the mic set. And also one last question, will I be able to plug it in into the back of my motherboard, or do I need a sound card and things like that? I'll also write out the set if somebody doesn't see: Pop filter x 1, Shock mount x 1, Microphone holder, XLR and 3.5 mm jack cable, Windscreen x 1.

I just did a quick google search, and every site that reviews and/or sells this lists it as requiring 48v phantom power.

ChatGPT is not some omniscient super-being. It doesn't "know" things, it just repeats the most probable sentence in response to your prompt.

That said, according to some listings I see, yes, you'll need phantom power.

Looks like a BM800. Most of those do need PP 48V, some work fine with PP 18V and there are many fakes or modified so that they work without but offer poor sound quality.

If you connect it to your Realtek and it needs 100% and a 30dBA boost in order to be almost loud enough in the recordings, you know you need Phantom.

Just don't use it with an USB adapter which has AGC Automatic Gain Control.

Well using our brains and looking at the photo.. the cable they include is XLR to 3.5mm so... So no it doesn't need phantom power as if it did that cable would be entirely useless as your 3.5mm mic jack doesn't provide phantom power.

You can get a cheap audio interface that'll provide phantom power. Would be better than plugging that into a motherboard directly.

well the kit they are selling includes a little USB sound card dongle w/ 3.5mm in for the mic.. and a 3.5mm cable (sound card) to XLR (mic) ..  The 3.5mm mic jack can't supply phantom power...so either the kit doesn't work  or it doesn't require phatom power.

And it probably uses AGC to artificially boost the volume... :S

Well i just plugged the mic into the back of the motherboard and it's working perfectly fine, except there's background hiss, any ideas how to fix it?

Check if your wall outlet / power socket is properly grounded. Bad grounding usually causes such issues.

It was all good, I put the pop filter on and everything fixed.

Also make sure you're talking into the front of the membrane and not into the back or the top.

Yep, but one question I got like an usb thingy where I plug my mic into it and headphones and it turns to a usb cable and I plug it in the pc, should I use it or no?

That's the USB soundcard. Don't use it.
