hi everyone,

when i enable DOCP i got errors in memtest (Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36)

its happens just on one stick from two.

- 2 sticks together= memtest errors (A2 + B2 on motherboard)

- 1st stick alone= memtest errors.

- 2nd stick alone= memtest is OK.

so probably one for the two is faulty? should i returned it to the store?

thanks!

spec:

78003dx
ASUS B650M-E tuf gaming (latest Bios update)

Is that in both slots or did you only test stick 1 in A2 and Stick 2 in B2 (or vice versa)? I'd check both slots, since a dead memory channel on either the CPU or motherboard can cause this. If it errors on both slots, it's a RAM issue and you should return the stick. If it errors on just the one, it's either a motherboard or CPU problem, more likely motherboard.

You should probably do an exchange on the stick setting errors.

Didn't understand what you meant.

Oh purchased as a kit

Hmm, kinda.

If you bought 2x "Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36" and expect them to work as a "Corsair Vengeance 4x16GB DDR5 6000MHz CL36", well, just don't; the odds are against you.

What they meant was if you bought a kit as a pair and went to RMA it to the manufacturer, you would only do one stick as that's how G.Skill, Corsair, TeamGroup, etc. require you do it. If you were to return it to the store (Amazon, Newegg, Micro Center, etc.) to get a replacement that way, then yeah, you would get a whole new kit.

No, they are "matched pairs", you have to RMA the whole part (i.e. a pair) no just 1/2 of it: There is no way to match 1 stick to it's "other half" without it being present to read it's tolerances - this is how they can sell devices that are "meant to be overclocked".

If you look for a "slower part number" it came from the same source, on the same line, it just didn't test as well, so gets sold cheaper as a slower version, mass production of solid state electronics has always been like this: a 1N4006 is just a 1n4007 that failed 1000v testing, but passed 800v testing etc.

You've never had to RMA RAM before then. G.Skill (the one I have experience with, though the other manufacturers do seem to have similar policies) will only accept the individual sticks that are dead.

It requires them to know what memory IC was present on the stick. They have enough tech there to read the IC version of the stick they receive and what it was rated for.
