is Going Above like 20 watts, just okay?

Is going above 50 watts just okay? I saw this video by a nerd on a budget showing that he bought a used Dell Optiplex with a 240-watt PSU and an I7 6700. And he upgraded it with another stick of RAM, making it 16GB overall, and bought a 1650 Super with a SATA to 6-pin adapter.

When I calculated the recommended PSU on the Cooler Master website, it stated that I needed 260+ watts for that system. And on that website, it just calculated that the CPU was 65 watts TDP, and I saw in an article that an I7 6700 can go at 100 watts, making the situation much worse.

My question is, is this safe??? because I have a Dell Inspiron 3668 lying around (with the same 240 watt power supply) and recently I upgraded it to a 16 GB RAM, GTX 1050TI (no 6 pin), but it has only I3 7100, and I am planning to upgrade it to I7 7700 and mainly use it for Video Editing.

Dont buy a 7700 it costs A LOT more than new cpu's that obliterate it with ease.  Also that cooler wont handle a 7700

You have a 1050 with no 6 pin which is good as a sata to 6pin adapter is A TERRIBLE IDEA. Works short terms basically always goes wrong in the shorter long term.

I would simply sell the inspiron and get a used ryzen gaming system 300$ is plenty and will usually come with something vetter than a 1050 even so you can sell that too

Here in the philippines, I7 7700 is dirt cheap, and about the cooler. I saw a dirt cheap 180w small server CPU cooler also.

And yeah, I also thought of buying a used ryzen PC but the Dell Inspiron has a sentimental value to me. Because that PC is the one that got me where I am now, I got 350k followers and more than a 150m views because of that PC and my GF will now handle the editing. So yeah, I won't sell this.

Whats cheap?

What server cooler? Normally those are passive. Also if it is an active cooler it will BE EXTREMELY LOUD. Also keep in mind dell usually mounts the cpu coolers to the board meaning there is no backplate swapping possible which means almost no cooler can mount

Cheap, 20 Dollars without shipping (2 dollars most likely), its the COOLSERVER 2U-R64 LGA 115X. And on the Dell 7KY25 MoBo of my inspiron has a fricking glued backplate, thus the reason why I am opting for this cooler, If I buy other coolers with their backplate like noctua or ID Cooling low profile CPU coolers, I am scared to pry that shit, might damage my board. And yeah, It will be loud and my GF would not mind, I just asked her.

It wont work either way as what little I can find that is a 24v fan which is NOT compatible with a 12v header and will just fry the header if used. I found one listing that said 12v but most say 24v. So maybe there is a 12v version?

Keep in mind this is a literal LOUD VACUUM CLEANER of noise if not louder. These things cause HEARING DAMAGE it is why you shouldnt be in a server room without hearing protection

As for 20 for a 7700? Yeah send it
