im want to go from a atx to a mini itx and switch to a smaller case but i have a 7700x which is am5, but when i was lookning for mini itx am5 motherboards only these popped up image.thumb.png.1cb4b734ea5d7b374b362587b8d6572e.png

and i have the ASRock X670E PG Lightning which is like $230, and i want something less or similar in price/performance but $430 seems to much is the A620I models good? does motherboard model matter that much for gaming?

There's really no good AM5 mITX boards. I have the B650 Aorus Ultra with my R5 7600 build and its a trash board.

I was a mITX only builder for 7 years, switching to ATX with how massive GPUs are now. I've floated throwing my 7950x3D into that B650 mITX board several times. Its just ultimately not worth it.

so i would have to use a intel cpu to have a good mitx board

What I did for a system I needed to be reliable across the country. I have the R5 7600 and AM5 mITX board now for that reason, replaced it with a i5 13500 and an MSI mITX board. The R5 7600 just sits in an iGPU only SFF case and runs my living room TV.

If you absolutely had to choose,

ASRock B650I LIGHTNING WIFI AM5 Ryzen 7000 AMD B650 SATA 6Gb/s Mini-ITX s DDR5 7200+ (OC) 2.5G LAN x WiFi 6E + Bluetooth Motherboards - AMD - Newegg.com

If I were to buy another now, it would be this one. This one is at least tolerable in its design. Doesn't appear to have any small fans. Its a newer edition to the AM5 mITX lineup.

To answer this question, not really, since Ryzen 7000 is wonderful at 105W or less. The performance loss from running ECO mode is insignificant, even with a 7950x and things like cinebench. A 7700x isn't going to be power limited by even the lowest boards, but you'll lose a lot of features going as low as an A620. B650 mITX boards are the sweet spot with a moderate CPU choice, like a 7600/7700 or 7800x3D. The new APUs being solid as well, but very limited in utility.

That Asrock board is at least acceptable by my standards of mITX. The Gigabyte Aorus Ultra was previously the best option at the time.

I would stick with the 7700x but get that Asrock board if you're still inclined to swap. Switching to Intel in your position just isn't worth it, unless you plan to have an additional system laying around or sell the 7700x with the board.

SAMA IM01 thats the case for you here. Cooler master nr200 itx case size but changed up layout so matx fits. Bit bigger than the lian li but with how gpu's are and big coolers thats a good thing

A bit bigger would be a asus prime 201

A chipset doesnt mean a board is good.

It has non functional rgb control (settingd arent rememberd usually)

Poor vrms compared to well basically any other b650

Pwm headers have issues driving more than 1 fan or a pump

Ram slots are on a lot of units differenr heights and crooked meaning that getting ram in is not easy.

Heatsink shroud gets in the way of a lot of coolers (not part of the actual heatsink)

And a bunch of they cheaped out here badly kinda dealios on that board.

Basically a 120$ a620 board that got a b650 chipset and was priced at 350$ because of the other 3 itx boards 1 is also a gigabyte

you mean like from a splitter or literally despite having more headers it has issues?

Splitter it can't even drive 2 simple dinky lil fans properly

Pump yeah single header pump cant go full speed not enough power.

Normally these headers are 12v 1a but seems gigabyte went way under.

that's interesting and pretty weird considering it is covered in specs:

B650m ds3h

Your cooler is too big however plenty cheap air coolers from thermalright available that will more than handle your cpu

Also get 4 arctic p12 fans to have top and bottom as intake (get a 5 pack its cheaper)

In a prime 201 all will fit immediatly

Daughterboards with flakey connections, the B650i Aorus Ultra I even had to RMA, first motherboard RMA since X79 era. The front I/O daughterboard's connection can disconnect from vibrations and doesn't inspire confidence. Board uses fan header adapters to get full 4 pin fan headers. The daughterboard for the M.2 slots and fan between the CPU and PCIe slot also doesn't inspire confidence, the way it seats and the screws used to mount it.

Overall, just a bad board, unnecessary complexity that actually has caused problem. Noting, I've bought gucci mITX boards all the way back to the Z97 Impact VII, which mind you, still works with all its daughterboards because it was designed better than this Gigabyte one.
