Hi guys,

 

Over the years I've gone through many a canister of compressed air so was wondering if anyone here had a good suggestion for a battery or mains powered version.

 

Loads of options on Amazon but not sure if they are any good.

 

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah these are just generics. I dont expect the battery to last too long as in time before its dead and swells up so I'd just opt for a cabled only one. They are all generics so pick a 5 star one and hope for the best. The one I bought some years ago vanished a week after I got it 😛

We have a DataVac duster at work, probably the exact same one Linus and Jake used when they rebuilt that Storinator a couple years ago. It's heavy and loud, but exactly what you need if you have a lot of equipment to dust off.

 

 

Personally, I just use my air compressor. It's this one from Harbor Freight. It isn't enough to run a paint sprayer, but it can run air tools and inflate tires, which is all I really needed it to do anyway. (I don't like power tools that are only good for one niche use case unless they're exceptionally good at their job.)

 

A leaf blower can also do a good job of dusting computers out. Just point it away from the computer and run it for a bit first if you ever used it as a mulcher-vacuum.

I recently got an XPOWER A-2 Airrow for $35 used on ebay, feels very well built and it cleaned my machine quite well. There seems to be a good secondhand market for them. I was just a bit cautious with the fans and watched to make sure I didn't get them spinning too quickly, not sure if it would cause any issues with electricity generation or not. Seems like it would also double well as an air mattress inflation device.

It's alright for the cost but not great, gets the bulk of dust out and is re-chargeable with multiple attachments and 3 settings.
