Hi everyone,

I'm running though options for what to do with my HTPC/streaming PC. This PC mainly lives in my TV stand to be used to stream movies and play games like Hogwarts Legacy while connected to my 65' LG B8 OLED. However I also sim race. For iRacing special events and league racing I physically move this PC into another room where I connect it to 2 monitors via a single display port cable. My goal is to avoid needing to move this PC all the time. So I'm planning to do one of two things.

Plan A:

I've considered purchasing an optical DP and optical USB C cable to connect to the monitors in the other room (connecting via a DP switch or DP coupler) and to the USB dock located there as well. The run via my basement will likely be 15M/49ft. This potentially is the least expensive solution.

Plan B: I also have a server rack in my basement directly between the two areas where I use the PC currently. I also know this Silverstone chassis can be rack mounted with optional rackmount brackets. If I go this route I'm guessing I'll need optical HDMI (In order to run 4K HDR @ 120FPS over 40ft) and an optical USB cable to connect to a USB hub (that I'll need to purchase) where the TV is. Is it possible to do this for less than $500? From a thermal and noise prospective this seems like a great option but I know the needed cables and hubs are expensive.

Has anyone else done the 1 PC two rooms setup? Any recommendation on the cables and hubs needed? Do you think that I should go with plan A and keep things simple or go plan B? Also I would not use the PC in both locations at the same time.

Oh btw 40ft is withing limits of optical dp cables rhat cost a couple hundred. Same with usb so totally an option. I mean for usb you can even just do active cable to amplifier to active to amplifier and it works 😛 40ft would be like 100$

Dp optical 40ft is like about 150$
