Hello guys, im trying to set minimun and maximun processor state on the power plan but is not working at all, it doesnt matter to 99%, 50% or 10%.

tried standard plan and ryzen plan

And what you are expecting to get out of this change?

I'll ask the same question, why?

You're better off letting the base Power Plan and its scheduler settings handle that. If you're trying to get ridiculously low idle power draw on any Ryzen MCM CPU, its not that easy. If you're trying to force a high power state all the time, then you're better off disabling C-states in the UEFI and running Performance instead of trying to tweak power plan advanced settings.

Nothing 😅 i dont have any problem, i was just trying it out.

To be completly honest I was researching how to help my nephew with his notebook cpu overheating, so I thought, 'why not limit the CPU?' (cant undervolt with throttlestop cus is locked and cant clean it cus he is far away) So, I tried doing it on my pc first just to test, and I realized it wasn't working. Thats the story 🙂 i hope you guys can help me ! thanks

Ryzen MCM architecture like on an R5 3600 is a different animal than a monolithic Intel or AMD CPU when it comes to steady state power consumption.

Regarding your nephew's laptop, its most likely that it needs to be cleaned. Its almost always the case, but if not, then there's not much you can do remotely to alleviate that. If his laptop isn't able to handle steady state Windows without throttling, there's not much anyone could do on the firmware/software end to prevent it from throttling during gaming.

Undervolting can sometimes solve that kind of issue, but I'd say its more likely to arbitrarily create another lower performance limit or have negligible impact on performance while reducing stability, given the circumstance. That's not the case on a system that's performing normally, usually an undervolt is beneficial to a point especially on Ryzen.

Really, he likely needs to get some canned air or use an air compressor to blow out the hair/dust that's likely built up in the laptop. The rest is unlikely to solve the issue if that's the case or create instability.
