Hey,

im building a New pc with a 78003xd (cooled with phantom spirit), RM850e psu and a 4070 ti super in a ap201 case.

currently my build only includes the stock exhaust fan in the case.

which fan setup would you choose in the case and what fans to balance good temps but also be as silent as possible.

i have been looking at both p12, p12 max and the Noctua a12s

AP201 owner here. This case can’t really do much in the fan configuration. Bottom 2x120mm fans are intake, top can be intake or exhaust and rear one is exhaust.

I personally have top and rear exhaust and bottom are intake config in mine with Arctic P12 fans all around.

so you run 2x120 intake bottom and 2x120 exhaust top? I guess you have the psu set as intake?

It makes no sense to have PSU facing inwards so yeah PSU fan is facing towards outside the case to get fresh air.

I got 2x120 P12 Slim fans as intake (as they are the only fans that fit with my Noctua 3070), I got 3x120 P12s as top exhausts and 1x120 P12 as rear exhaust.

Arctic p12s are great, they're quiet, move lots of air, and are cheap. I'd just get a bunch of those and fill up your case with them.

hi

i have been looking at both p12, p12 max and the Noctua a12s

Where are the dust filters located? Are they permanent, removable, magnetic?

Is go with 1-2 P12 Max at the bottom for intake, depending on how much airflow you want, and then get the A12x25 for the rear and 1-2 P12 PWM PST on top. Check for positive airflow and make sure that the bottom intakes are more than 1-2 inches from the surface below. If there is carpeting, maybe a bit higher. If you have pets, make sure to check the filter regularly (at least monthly, depending on observed rate of build-up).

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Thanks. 😊 I only have dust filter under the case and removable. The reason I ended up going with the p12 pst over the p12 max was the impressions/reviews I was reading that mentioned p12 max loudness compared to the p12 mainly due to what could be bad  QC

Arctic does have some QC issues, but most companies do, even expensive ones like Lian Li, who seem resistant to actual good customer service (in my experience).

Keep your eye on temps and if they are too high, ask yourself if the lower nose profile is worth the lost performance. Adding more fans nights help, just make sure that the strongest are on intake, and there are no dust filters for the exhaust.
