reasons to get a new phone

So what were your reasons to get a new phone?

And what live time do you expect from current phones?

4-5 years.

When it slows down compared to what I am using it for, or something new catches my eye.

I am not always logical.

Is this a post for shits and giggles cuz you're bored or are you asking for a reason?  Are you about to buy your first phone?

My turn: When do you buy new shoes?  How long do you expect to use them for?

When the phone or some of the details break.

I'm only considering getting a new phone because my phone has issues with charging/USB port.

Bought mine in 2017 I believe. Sturdy Xiaomi.

My LG V30 was end of its life. Several things were broken and cracked, battery at some 40% health. Too slow, too hot. Upgraded to my first ever and last Samsung. Wanted to try the software side of Samsung but got scammed £100 off their trade in deal so I'm never getting any Samsung ever again. Solid phone though. Refreshing to have a ton of case options, accessories as well as dbrand skins. LG had barely anything. Not a single decent case so had to go naked over the years and those drops did do some damage.

Well done Samsung, just in time when I need a new kitchen and TV and a 4k monitor, all you're products are off the list so that's some £6-8k you're not getting from me anymore and is going to someone else all because of £100 you aren't willing to pay me back. Hisense & Bosch, all AEG or all Miele seem appealing alternatives. Rant over.

I like to get as many years out of my phone as possible. On average, this has turned out to be about 3-5 years each

If I see something particularly intriguing though, I definitely am tempted to upgrade early.

Still rocking a good condition Samsung Note 9 (Linus old longterm phone)

Besides a little burn in on white screens I can't see elsewhere, still rock solid for YouTube 1440p OLED, Atmos and all the functions I'll ever need from a phone.. battery still okay, relatively considering its age and Max 85% it's been charge limited the entire time.

If I ever dropped it, I'd probably just get a used newer model note series.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

The only truly good reason to get a new phone is that your current phone cannot perform the tasks you need it to while meeting expectations, and a new one will.
