ADATA XPG FUSION 1600W Titanium price too good ??

PDifolco

Looking at parts for my next build, spotted a normally super high end PSU at price of a midrange one (less than 170EUR)

Is the PSU bad (reviews say otherwise  https://hwbusters.com/psus/xpg-fusion-1600w-titanium-psu-review-should-corsair-worry/  ) or is  it a scam ?

Unless you absolutely needed 1600W on a budget, I'd buy something that was A tier and 1200-1300W range.

That was what I sought when I stumbled on that deal, making me hesitate...

Also  it's very hard to find a 1200W unit that is TierA, white if possible (my theme), with ATX3.0 for a possible later Nvidia card, but needing 3x 8pin Pcie atm for my 7900XTX 🙂

well 170 euros should still get you an rm1000x (which I wouldn't call a midrange psu)

I don't think it's a scam

I don't think it's a scam however, for a titanium rated unit it's in the middle range of B Tier units on the Cultists tier list. Even at the price I'd rather find something else. 1600w is complete overkill, I'd rather get a 1000w to 1200w A Tier unit myself.

Id just go for it

1600w is overkill but its titanium rated and most important of all it has a 12 year warranty where most psus would only come with 10

For 170€ thats a steal for the wattage efficiency and warranty, wouldnt pass that up for some inferior unit at the same price with less wattage and only 10 year warranty

As for white psu just paint the thing yourself if you cant find a white one, if it isnt even visible in your case just leave it be and buy some white cable extensions

It's just a bit lower end of quality spectrum 1600w.

170 isn't cheap at all. It's a lotta money for a psu and can get you quite a few good ones.

Like do you even need that much at all ever?

A 4090 with a 7800x3d for example works heaps fine on a rm850.

Get a rm850? Plenty good for that rig. You DO NOT need 1600 or even 1000w. Even with a 14900k. Like both gpu and cpu full tilt won't max a rm850 at all.

Sure , I'm using a RM850x atm on my 5900X/7900XTX and it's perfectly fine!

But as I want to keep my old build "intact" (won't dismantle it, just take out GPU and SSDs) when upgrading I was searching for something  "better"  😛

I mean there is 0 reason to go beyond really. So I'd just keep the money in the pocket and not do it.

Could get another RM850x, but it isn't ATX3.0/no 12VHPWR...

Plenty other fish in the sea really.

Just don't overdo it and if this one happens to line up in budget and doesn't make it so you ahve to loose performance on other stuff why not.

Used a rm1000 for 9 years (the first one still with a blue sticker) and it was used before it. Couldn't handle the nvidia 3000 series and up as their power spikes were outside of what it could register as safe. Handled 1000w loads like a champ tho. Still works fine as a tester. Course wouldn't use it in a main build

Hmmmm, maybe I'd stick with Corsair, the HX1000i is Tier A, affordable (220EUR), has plenty of power, is quiet, and has a 12VHPWR cable (not a connector, but that's ok)

Only con is that I'd have to use ICue for the monitoring 😞

A few solid options here.

Corsair doesn't do the 12VHPWR plug on the PSU itself which is fine, but its never clear if they include the 12VHPWR cable in the box or not.

Did that already, then filtered this out for Tier A, that left much less choice

But overall I have narrowed my choices and won't get a crazy 1600W model, it'll be either a Phanteks AMP, BQ PurePower 12, or Corsair HX1000i

I 'm not sure of the case I'd take, so if the PSU Is hidden I won't care for color

Thanks guys!
