Hypothetical Build...AGAIN

WinNut

So this time around I am going to try to get this rig for my birthday (see profile) and will do hours of hardcore, dedicated research to get this rig. See my member title.

This rig will be used between my brother and me. He plays Minecraft (hacked free) and I play OpenBVE and do CPU-intensive shit. Here ya go:

  • Minecraft
  • OpenBVE
  • Video editing (for school)
  • Overclocking, won't push it too far (<-sounds really wrong  <_<)
  • No gaming
  • Possibly coding

This rig will be driving 2-3 monitors (if permission is given). The following people know my I-don't-have-a-rig backstory:

terrytek, tmcclelland455, CtW, NerdNinja, Yummychickenblue and XtremeTechGaming (we go to the same school)

The story is that my dad built his own rig back in '98 but won't let me build my own. He says that I should focus on software rather than hardware, but in order to do so I need to have a powerful system to work on. I can't even create a new project in the Netbeans IDE without it freezing up, and my computer is WAYYY too slow to compile video (needed for schoolwork) and even has trouble watching 720p YouTube, and don't get me started on how bad trying to watch the livestream is. Therefore, I want to build a rig. This may seem a little overkill for my needs but I want something really swift for my needs and I went overkill so that in case I start doing more powerful stuff then I won't have to spend money on upgrades. To convince my dad to let me build a rig I want to make a PowerPoint and present it to him once school ends for the year. If you could offer some pros of building that would be awesome and greatly appreciated. :)

My budget is $900, and I live a little ways from a Micro Center (20 minutes by car). Monitor, keyboard, and mouse have already been obtained and are being used to type this as of now.

Thanks for all replies!

Holy mother of text. Give me a min to read this....

Edit: Looks good to me. It's a solid rig that's will defiantly get the job done.

Edit: NVM. People are making way better systems.... I should have known better

The year is 20XX. Everyone plays Fox at TAS levels of perfection. Because of this, the winner of a match depends solely on port priority. The RPS metagame has evolved to ridiculous levels due to it being the only remaining factor to decide matches.

Only Abate, Axe, and Wobbles can save us.

Made a couple of changes, now you have faster RAM, a better GPU, and now you're under budget.

I suggest stepping down to a 990fx ud3 and 8320 and use that saved money for a better gpu. Looks good other then that!

EDIT: Nevermind about the better gpu part just downgrade to a ud3 and save some $ so ur parents don't go crazy :P

considering the fact that the 8350 is clocked higher and has moar cores

however it does not have an iGPU but that does not pertain to me considering that I am using a real GPU

I think it outperforms it in multicore stuff like video editing but not single threaded stuff.

Drop the CSM 450 in favor of a CX500M, and you'll save a bunch, get a source 210, get cheaper RAM, other things.

Also, I live 30 minutes away from NYC in Essex County, NJ

kewl. Once school ends I will start working on my evil masterminded plot to build a PC. I hope that my convincing powers work, I think I have a 55% chance of convincing my parents, dad is a techie while mom is not.

I guess we will have to see how this works out. Thanks.
