What would happen?

Theoretically, what would happen if you plug your iPhone to charge and set it on a powered MagSafe charger. Would the phone charge faster? Or would the energy just be wasted in heat? 

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Maybe Restart it?

If I had to guess I'd say that the phone would just end up completely ignoring the wireless charging and only use the wired charger.

there is a max current the battery will accept, the iphone will only initiate charging via one power source, presumably whichever is first.

No, there would be no excess energy, because the phone would refuse to use the Qi charger.
