Thermal paste aplication and removal

I recently purchased a Ryzen 7 5700x to replace my existing CPU. I would like to know the ideal thermal paste pattern and amount for this processor, using TM30 thermal paste. Additionally, I would like to know the correct way to remove the preexisting thermal paste. I have heard that 95%+ isopropyl alcohol is required for this task, but it is difficult to obtain where I live. Can I use anything with a lower percentage?

Just go with 70% if you can. Doesn't make much of a difference. I use a coffee filter and 70% isopropyl alcohol for both my waterblock and CPU. Works fine. I'm currently using thermal grizzly kyrosheet on a 7800X3D after going from a 3900X. Due to the little cut outs on the new 7000 Ryzen CPUs. Don't want thermal paste getting in there. Spread or not. Not a big deal but rather not deal with it. First time using it and temps are about the same never above 72c (max) in gaming then around 40c - 42c idle. On water though playing a factor of course.

I used a paper towel to remove the paste off my AIO and 7700X,  then did a 5-dot method for the 7800X3D.

 

As long as the paste covers the CPU, the method doesn't matter.

Yeah.  I mean it's just a sticky paste.  However you clean things will work, it's no more than wiping a goo off metal.
