CPU - time for an upgrade?

I'm running an I5-9600k with a 3080. Is it time for an upgrade? I game and don't do any streaming or video editing.

It works well enough or should I wait until the 15th gen later this year?

It depends..

 

If you are sick of lugging that leather couch around that you call a wallet, then sure..

 

But if it plays well enough for you.. then nah. But there is a lot of performance to be had by upgrading.

Really only you can answer that question. If your PC isn't capable of keeping up with what you want it to do, then it's time. If it is though, then you may as well just keep it going how it is.

 

I know people that would love to have my system, yet I'm going insane not being able to throw my 12600KF to the curb in favor of a 7800X3D and my 2080 in favor of a 4080.

10850K and 2080ti would be a godsend for others but im chasing more GPU Power later this year I think.

 

If what you have doesn't cause stutters via imbalance and works for you, who are we to say you should upgrade.

It was time for an upgrade two years ago.

 

The 9600K is a single threaded mid-range CPU.  Have you not noticed stuttering, really low frame drops, and an inability to play new games at decent levels?

 

If not, disregard anything I said   You're fine.
