i3 121 00F and 4060Ti low FPS

I play Fortnite with an i3 12100F and a 4060Ti and average around between 70-240FPS on performance mode with low settings. I think with a 4060Ti I should get much more FPS than that because my friend with a 5600x and 3060 gets around 1400FPS with the same settings. I was wondering if anyone had a solution to this.

Common build advice: 1) Buy the cheapest (well reviewed) motherboard that has the features you need. Paying more typically only gets you features you won’t use. 2) only get as much RAM as you need, getting more won’t (typically) make your PC faster. 3) While I recommend getting an NVMe drive, you don’t need to splurge for an expensive drive with DRam cache, DRamless drives are fine for gamers. 4) paying for looks is fine, just don’t break the bank. 5) Tower coolers are usually good enough, unless you go top tier Intel or plan on OCing. 6) OCing is a dead meme, you probably shouldn’t bother. 7) "Bottlenecks" rarely matter and "Future-proofing" is a myth. 8) AIOs don't noticably improve performance past 240mm.

I'm a PhD student working in the fields of reinforcement learning and traffic control. PCs are one of my hobbies and I've built many PCs and performed upgrades on a few laptops (for myself, friends and family). My personal computers include 3 windows (10/11) machines and a TrueNAS server (and I'm looking to move to dual booting Linux Mint on my main machine in future). No I mean 1400fps. My gpu is reaching around 55°C and my cpu is reaching around 90% usage while my GPU is reaching around 17%.

I have a 7950X and a 4080, and I'm not even getting 500fps at 1080p or 550fps at 720p while looking at the floor on absolutely minimum settings.

 

A quick google brings up a player who managed to average 340fps at 1440p in real game play with a 4090 and a 5800X3D:

 

Another video I've come accross is titled "1000+ fps" at 1440p but actually almost never passes 500fps maximum

 

 

Watching further benchmarks corroboratescooberates these figures. Unless I'm missing something here, there is no way your friend gets around 1400FPS with only a 5600x and 3060.

Based on this video of a 12100F and RX 7600 at 1080 gettings about 220 average:

I'd say 240 sounds about right for your hardware.

That said, judging from these figures it looks like your 12100F might be a limiting factor, and you might unlock some extra performance from your 4060Ti by upgrading yout CPU to a newer one with a few more cores. Not sure how much you'll actually gain though looking at the results I linked above. What temps is the CPU reaching?

No, he doesn't. 

 

1400fps would be pointless anyway because it's well in excess of double the refresh rate of the fastest monitors currently available. 

Corps aren't your friends. "Bottleneck calculators" are BS. Only suckers buy based on brand. It's your PC, do what makes you happy.  If your build meets your needs, you don't need anyone else to "rate" it for you. And talking about being part of a "master race" is cringe. Watch this space for further truths people need to hear.
