Boot LED red, no display, no BIOS

Go to solution Solved by schmilip,

CPU died

Hello,

a few weeks ago i build a friend a pc

Asrock B550M Pro4

Ryzen 5 5600

16 Gb GSkill Aegis

WD SN570 1TB

GTX 1650

Bequiet System Power 10 450W

we installed windoof 10 and everything was working...

few days ago he called me and told me his pc was stuck in reboot... so i tried remote maintenance, restarting waiting maybe windows fix it self it just couldnt boot

Now im over, cant get into bios, no display signal and the Boot LED is red

Tried CMOS reset different m.2 slot

Different ram slots

And the basic stuff...

Any fixes? Any idea what the problem is?

Or did something just died after 2,5 weeks?

Try booting with only 1 stick of ram in slot A2 and cpu installed. Have power connected but nothing else (drives, fpanel, etc all disconnected). Short the power pins with a screwdriver. If it doesn’t post, probably a dead motherboard or cpu.

after pressing power button DRAM and CPU LED go on then off and the BOOT LED light up red

so nothing changed with only 1 stick

how do i find out if cpu or motherboard is dead?

Edit - if it gets stuck on the boot led, try clearing CMOS. To do that disconnect power and use the jumper/button to clear. See mobo manual for where that is located.

That board can’t be bios flashed without going into bios, so if it won’t boot even when it is stripped down to the bare minimum, there isn’t a whole lot to do.

Ok, does the boot led stay on? If it goes off, it means the board has completed post. Board cpu and ram are good.

Reinstall the gpu if you took it out.

Check the connection between the video card and the monitor. Change output/input/cable if you have a spare one.

LED is still up, fans and stuff are spinning normal

still no signal, sadly cpu has no graphics

other cable makes no difference

See my edit. It’s getting stuck on booting the board. The component post checks are good.
