Transporting pc with tower CPU cooler?

I am going to college soon, and will be bringing my pc with me. It is an 8 hour drive by car and probably a little shorter by train. I'll mostly be bringing it by car, but sometimes by train.

 

I have a gpu in there and a cm 212 evo. I'm going to take the gpu out for transport, but the 212 evo not so easy.

 

Should I just keep my computer sideways and hope the cpu cooler doesn't do anything?

If you lay it down then you'll be fine mate, that is what I usually and never had any issues

It will be fine in the car on its side as long as you're careful driving. To be honest there is probably more force exerted on the motherboard by the cooler when you've got it stood up when in use, so I wouldn't worry about it breaking off in the car or anything like that. The same goes for the gpu - if it's screwed into the case then you can keep that in there too.
