Build Upgrade Suggestions

Budget (including currency): 900 BGN / 450 €

Country: Bulgaria

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: League of Legends, Eu4, Hoi4, Vic3 and story mode games like Rdr2 or Elden Ring

I am just looking for suggestions about it.

There is barely an upgrade really.

 

Sure the cpu is better but you have a 3060. That isn't held back by a 10400f. I'd just save the money and not upgrade there is no point.

 

What I would do is get some more ssd storage AND DEFINITLY replace that psu

 

Else well there will basically be no performance uplift for the games you play except maybe europa universalis a couple seconds better turns if even. Else well nothing improves.

 

That and you are upgrading to another end of life platform so really it makes very little sense.

Most games I play my cpu is being at 100% while my gpu is at 20% it really does hold it back also 16 GB of ram is almost never enough when playing eu4 or hoi4 because I play with a lot of mods that's why I want to change to 32 gb also my ram is capped at 2666 mhz by my current motherboard

Can't really tell how the upgrade will cost as you didn't mark owned parts, but I feel you won't have much for your money

Why not just dropping an used 11600K, they go for $150 ?

Do you actually have FPS issues in these games? Sure, a 10400 isn't the greatest CPU anymore, but it is still pretty capable and a 3060 isn't that fast.

 

I'm inclined to agree with @jaslion. This upgrade is going to be costly and is more of a sideways move.

 

If you were switching to AM5, then at least you'd be on a new platform, but AM4? Obsolete platform to another obsolete platform, what's the point?

Sure get 32gb of ram but the cpu being at 100% in your strat games is entirely normal. It's meant to do that. Are you having fps issues? Those strategy games are aimed to run at 60fps more is just a bonus.
