Hi I'm going to build a new pc in June, I was thinking about buying the  ASUS sabertooth z97 with a 4770k either a 4790k. I've heard they are coming out around July, will it be worth the wait and will there be much performance difference? Also will they be ridiculously expensive? The 4770k is around £230, I do not want to spend much more than that £270 is the max I would pay, will they be cheaper than that?

Thanks for any help :D

Unless you absolutely have to have the latest technologies and the new thermal improvements of DC, then I wouldn't bother. If you are able to build your PC in June, build it in June. Don't wait until July for Devils Canyon, otherwise you'll find yourself always waiting for the next part to come out. (What a lot of people are doing for the 800 series cards from NVidia)

There'll be very little performance increase with Devil's Canyon. Broadwell will likely have a much bigger performance increase. I've seen several board makers say that their 1150 Z97 boards will support Broadwell CPUs, but I'm not 100% sure on it.

If you waited so long one more month shouldn't be a problem. Guess is that it is going to be around that price point £270-290

Why so much more?

Considering the 4790 now is 218 pounds, the 4790k should be ~230-240. It can't be more..

OP: i would wait, especially if you are into overclocking

I'm basically in the exact same situation, looking to build a PC at some point in the Summer and not sure whether I should wait or not. I'm in no rush so might as well see what the 4790k brings to the table, and if it's more than £50 pricier than the 4770k then I don't think I'll bother. Will definitely be getting a Z97 board though just in case something special comes out within the next little while.
