new egg deal

Melon_Wolf1

The recent LTT video showed the deal with the 7900x3d and a free kit of ram.  I have currently already bought a 7800x3d and plan to pair it with a kit of XPG lancer 64gb 6000MHZ CL30 on an asus tuf B650. The new egg deal has the 7900x3d with a kit of Gskill flare X5 32GB of 6000MHZ CL36 and  then i would bundle it with the asrock B650E riptide. The new egg route would save roughly $100 but would have half the memory and a higher latency. Would i really notice the difference though? Would i really notice the extra  4 cores as well? I basically only game mostly destiny 2 new world and newer triple A games. Im conflicted with the decision though because i can just return the cpu i bought already and go with the deal on new egg pretty easy since i dont need it immediately what do yall think?.

7900x is not a good for gaming as the 7800x3d.  Stick with your plan.  The $100 is the price of the missing 32GB RAM, so no savings.

its a 7900x3d not the normal 7900x so the real only difference is 4 more cores and a little bit more cache i believe

Oh, missed that x3d on the 7900.  So now you're looking at a 2x CCD chip that has to balance its load.  Something @Agall has tested a good bit.

Long and short is stick with the 7800x3d unless you want to get deeper into how the chips work.

There is a reason the 7800x3d is the best gaming CPU on average currently.

One note is as far as I know, latency doesn't matter much with the x3d chips so that isn't a factor.

the latency on the ram isnt as important? if thats the case i could save more money if i went with a cl40 kit instead of the cl30 you think i wouldnt notice a difference in day to day use?

I extrapolated this for the other x3d as well...

7900x3D uses 6 cores of 3D v-cache, basically a 7600x3D with a second CCD of 6 cores. In the testing I've done reconfiguring a 7950x3D to a 6+6, I didn't see any major disadvantage, though any game that does want more than 6 cores will perform more like a R9 7900 than a 7600x3D. It puts any buyer into a scenario where they're having to choose whether they need the extra cores and if they do, to pony up a bit more for the 7950x3D. The sustained boost limited for my chip is ~4.9GHz which given that its the same limit for all core and only CCD0, its likely a hard thermal limit, so having -2 cores doesn't benefit, since I've done the same down to 2c/4t.
