Hey! My GPU (Gigabyte RTX 3070 GAMING OC) is hitting 75-80°C in almost every task.

  • Unreal engine editor? 80°C unless i cap the frame rate to somewhere below 90
  • CS2? 250 FPS = 77°C temps but 165 FPS = 60-65°C
  • Dying Light 2? 75 FPS = 80°C but 60 FPS = 60°C

The GPU fans get crazy (after hitting ~75°C)... I've bought this card used from a friend (he used to played esport games only at 1080p) and I thought my cooling is bad so I bought 4 mid-range fans (instead of 2 which came with the case) but that didn't change anything... Should I replace the thermal pads? Or is 75°C normal these days? If so can I limit the god damn GPU fan speed?

I dont see anything wrong with these temperatures. They are well within safe spec for the 3070 🙂  80c is warm but definitely not dangerous for the card.
Just continue gaming
👍  You can repalce the stock thermal paste if you want and it might help lower the temps so the fans aren't as loud.
But you can just continue using it as it is too 🙂

Okay, thank you! Is there any way of editing the fan curve tho? There's a HUGE jump after hitting ~75°C and I'd like to make it smoother. It's annoying when I the temps jump between 78 and 74 degrees.

You can download MSI Afterburner ( works on non MSI Cards ) and set a custom fan profile there.

Its the most common program for GPU overclocking / PC overlay monitoring and GPU Fan curve adjustment.

And yes... That is WoW Classic in the backround 😛

Well considering that is what the card targets, I wouldnt call it "overheating"

making a "smooth" fancurve usually results in the opposite of what its supposed to achieve.

something more aggressive like in the picture above (or below) is much better.

i suggest to just try out and test things, asking on forums is only getting you so far, there's a lot of experience involved in understanding how fancurves (and other pc parts) work, and every system is different,  hence you gotta try, test and see what works for you.

here's my fancurve,  using that since years, works on all my gpus, temps barely ever go above ~60c during load...

but this probably isnt going to help you much, and its also not really open to discussion,  this is roughly how a fancurve needs to look for "smooth" operation, period.  i hope it helps at least a little bit though.  🙂
