How to install windows 10 or 11 for someone else?

Darth_Tarquinius

Goodevening everyone,

I have a question that's been haunting me for a while. I have been making computers for friends etc as a hobby for a while but I keep bumping into something.

When u buy a computer or laptop from a store you start it up and run into the setup of windows so you will fine tune and install the Microsoft account of yourself.

But how do I get that onto their computer?

I would love to be able to start it up, update the rig, install the right drivers, give it a test run and then for my friends to be able to "setup windows" themselves.

Now I make the computer, bring it to them. Install and setup windows at their house and try to test it there. But friends in different countries I can't ship them the pc but I have to ask them to give their log in credentials. I don't want to do that anymore.

I can't find it online anywhere.

Somewhere here to help me?

It would mean so much.

Kind regards,

Raúl

Windows OOBE is what you're looking for. Out of Box Experience.

It lets you do the driver installs and everything and then wipe the temp account on reboot but keeps drivers and whatnot.

Thank you that already clarified a lot for me. Do you know how I set this Windows OOBE up?

When it starts up that first time press CTRL+SHIFT+F3

The computer will reboot you to a desktop that will allow you to complete the setup without setting up an account.

Then when you are done run

Sysprep /oobe /shutdown command

This will shutdown the system and be ready for the end user.

That's super cool! I always wondered how they did that.
